Why I've Decided to Start Blogging: Goals, Dreams, and Expectations

Introduction

I guess should start by introducing myself and saying welcome to my blog! My name is Jamal and I'm a recent Computer Science graduate. I decided to start blogging because I wanted to be able to document my journey as a lifelong learner. This is something that I have thought about doing for a long time but never had the courage to do so until now. While this is intended as a personal milestone journal that I can look back on, my goal is also to share insights and knowledge with you, my readers, on the various topics I delve into.

Why I decided to start blogging

I've contemplated starting a blog for a few years now. Every time I considered taking the leap and starting a blog, it was like a continuous self-doubt loop replayed in my head. I kept thinking:

"Only people with industry expereince write blogs"

"You're not a good enough writer to become a blogger"

"No one is going to read my blogs; why waste your time?"

Well, eventually (yesterday to be precise) I decided: who the heck cares if I have no industry experience, or if I'm not a NY Times journalist-leveled writer, or if zero people read my blogs? Everyone that ever did anything started out as a beginner on Day 0. The only way to get better at something is to start and keep at it. I may never become a successful blogger but I'll be happy with myself for even trying.

Being a recent CS graduate, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to document my journey from being an unemployed graduate to a thriving professional. I'm anticipating this journey to be filled with unique challenges, invaluable experiences, and continuous learning. I know that many graduates and future graduates will be in a similar position as me, so I also wanted to serve as a future source of guidance and inspiration for people who might find themselves in similar waters.

What I plan to share throughout my journey

When I first toyed with the idea of starting a blog, the pressing question was: What on earth am I going to write about? Honestly, I still have no idea! But here's the deal, I'm all about technology and how it affects almost all of the things we do in life today. So, naturally, that's going to be the main vibe of my blog. I'll just say expect a mystery bag of cool topics: from my adventures (and misadventures) in personal tech projects to my day-to-day experiences navigating this tech-driven world. And, because I love diving into new things, I’ll also be sharing what I learn along the way, especially topics I find interesting like data science, analytics, and engineering. It's going to be a bit of this, a bit of that – all seen through the lens of a recent graduate finding his way.

My aim with this blog is pretty straightforward but exciting: to mix the personal touch of a diary with the cool stuff you'd find in a tech blog. Picture this as a place where you can get the scoop on tech stuff, but also get to know me and my journey in the world of technology. It's like having a chat with a friend who loves tech as much as you do, and who's also figuring out life as a recent grad. Expect stories, some tech talk, a few laughs, and lots of learning along the way!

Conclusion

So that is the "what", "why", and "who" of this blog. As I begin my journey into the blogging and tech world, it's safe to say I'm both nervous and excited about what lies ahead for me. I'm really looking forward to sharing my journey with you all. Whether you're a fellow tech enthusiast, a recent grad trying to find your path or just someone who loves a good story, I hope you'll find something here that resonates with you.

I've decided to end my first blog with nothing other than a cliche motivational quote that will either receive eye-rolls or fist-pumps. If you're stopping by, feel free to leave a comment just to say "hi" or comment on something that interests you!

"Stop being afraid of what could go wrong, and start being excited about what could go right."
